lyrics

THE MIRROR

Strapped inside a hospital bed,
Twisting and turning its head,
Fragile eyes stare in fear.
In that embryonic form,
Curled like a womb hurt and worn,
The eyes try to turn away from the mirror.

Crying with no tears,
The eyes try to hide,
The memories stored inside,
Trapped beneath the glare.
It pains the eyes to see,
The pictures so frightfully reflecting,
The terror of the injured mind.

If you gain the strength to look upon,
And face the darkness written on,
The face of the mirror of the mind.
Will you shutter at the thought,
That the very truth you've always sought,
Is no other than insanity of life?

Take one last look at the mind lying naked,
To the stethoscope and drug and pin,
And cling to that warm womb you're escaping in.
And breathe and beat and be deaf and blind,
And hope you never have to find a mirror,
That can strip you of your mind.

Through the dark it's plain to see,
The danger of insanity,
Is suddenly much closer than before.
And whispered words and silent screams,
Were buried deep and locked in dreams,
But now the madness lures us to our fall,
And the mirror can reveal it to us all,
And the mirror can reveal it to us all.
