lyrics

Lost A Friend (Mel Borins)

I lost a friend the other day.
She sat right next to me,
Then slipped away.
Now all that’s left
Is one big hole,
Filled with all the people
She left behind.

And every now and then
I see her face
I’m reminded it could have been me
In her place

So I stand up tall
Hold my head up high
Take a deep breath
Put on a great big smile
And I say to myself
What a lucky day
What a wonderful day
What a beautiful day to be alive

Car spinning off the road.
Flying glass, bloody clothes.
All alone in a hospital bed,
Finding out my friend was dead.

And every now and then
I see her face
I’m reminded it could have been me
In her place

I can smell the flowers
Taste the wine
Laugh out loud
Feel joy inside.
And I scream at the top of my lungs
It’s great to be alive.

Our lives are measured by the number
Of people we leave behind.

I lost a friend the other day.
She sat next to me
Slipped away.
